phenotype: Wings extended uniformly at 45o from body axis and elevated 30o above (occasionally sharply downcast and dragging). Alulae missing. Dorsocentrals and some other bristles reduced in number (Sturtevant, 1918, Carnegie Inst. Wash. Publ. No. 264; Plunkett, 1926, J. Exptl. Zool. 46: 181-244). Head often deformed or split in postvertical region. Halteres turned down. Homozygous lethal. Nearly lethal in combination with eyD (Sobels, Kruijt, and Spronk, 1951, DIS 25: 128). Partially suppressed by sc alleles that remove postverticals (sc, sc4, sc6, sc7) but not by others (sc2, sc5) (Sturtevant). Classifiable in triploids. RK2A.
